DWI leads to car crash and submerged vehicle

Update: Greece police sent a correction on the driver’s last name. The suspect’s name is Dale Raforth.

GREECE, N.Y. (WHEC) — An SUV ended up submerged in a channel of water after crashing into a home Sunday on Edgemere Drive.

Shortly after midnight, Greece Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash. The vehicle left the road and struck a private residence in the 2000 block of Edgemere Drive.

After striking the home, the vehicle drove into a channel of water.

Lakeshore Fire Department assisted the sole occupant out of the vehicle and reported no injuries.

As a result of the crash and investigation, Dale Raforth, 60, was charged with, Driving Driving While Intoxicated as a designated offense for a previous conviction within 10 years, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the first degree—both class E felonies.

Danforth was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle in the second and third degree, Circumventing of an Interlock Device, Unlicensed Operation, and Moving from Lane Unsafely.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Danforth is awaiting arraignment in Greece Town Court at this time.
