Woman arrested for the murder of her husband of 40 years outside their Vintage Lane home

GREECE, N.Y. — Greece police have arrested Skavon Andrews for the fatal shooting of her husband of 40 years on Vintage Lane on Tuesday.
Skavon Andrews, 68, was charged with second-degree murder. Police began investigating after they found her husband, Rawleigh Andrews, with a gunshot wound to the head, lying in the driveway of the Greece home that the couple shared.
Officers first responded at around 2:40 p.m. after getting reports of a body. Rawleigh Andrews was 72 years old.
Greece police said they detained Skavon Andrews soon after arriving and gathered witnesses and evidence. She will be arraigned in Greece Town Court on Wednesday.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
Police are investigating after a male was found shot in the head on Vintage Lane in Greece.
New10NBC spoke to neighbors about the shooting. Gina Angora came home and saw flashing police lights right next to her house and connected with a neighbor.
“He said he was in his house and he only heard one sound,” Angora said. “So he assumed it was a firework but then he was like why would someone do a firework at this time and you don’t typically only do one. And he came outside and then in seconds later he just saw everyone flying down the road going to the house.”
Greece Police Deputy Chief Ryan Parina said the shooting happened mid-day.
“We responded to the 500 block of Vintage Lane for the report of a male with a gunshot wound to the head. We arrived to find a male with a gunshot wound, deceased in the driveway,” Parina said.
Another neighbor said she was folding clothes when she heard a boom.
“I was folding clothes in my bedroom and I heard a big boom like a shotgun or something,” Carmen Vazquez said. “It was so big and I thought it was a car accident or something but then I look and I see the police cars and I walked over to find out what was going on.”
Gina Angora said that the neighborhood is usually quiet.
“People always tell you things like that don’t usually happen around here. They happen around busier areas like the city of Rochester but it can happen anywhere,” Angora said. “All it takes is one person to make a choice not the community of people that you would see in a different area or place. So it’s sad.”
