ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New data released Tuesday by the American Automobile Association (AAA) shows cruising is making a strong comeback, with 2022 bookings nearing pre-pandemic levels.
Twenty-three percent of Americans said they’re ready to cruise in the next two years. That’s more than 58 million people.
"Cruising’s always been extremely popular out of the Rochester area," said AAA Director of Public Relations Elizabeth Carey. "One, people like to escape the winter, and go on cruise ships and visit a lot of warm, different destinations, but then also Alaska cruise season it’s huge—it’s a bucket list destination for a lot of people."
While millions may be planning to return to the open water soon, flying and driving for vacation are still the top options.
