ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The deadline for proposals on how to revitalize Downtown Rochester is nearing.

New York State awarded the City of Rochester $10 million for the project.

The funds can be used for economic development, transportation, housing, and community initiatives that range in cost and scale from small programs to large-scale capital projects and can be given out for public improvement, new development, rehabilitation of existing structures, revolving grant funds, or branding and marketing.

The Local Planning Committee wants proposals from non-profits, arts and cultural institutions, property owners, developers and more and it’s holding open office hours this Friday from noon to 3 p.m. at Mercantile on Main at Sibley Square.

All project proposals need a sponsor that has the capacity and authority to complete the project.

The deadline to submit a proposal is April 1.

Proposal forms are available online.
