PARMA N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s office said 52-year-old Stephen Kneeland was the person struck and killed by a drunk driver in Parma on Sunday night.

The office expressed condolences to the family and friends of Kneeland, a man from Lockport, N.Y.

The crash happened on West Ridge Road just before 10 p.m. on Sunday. Deputies say James Jacobs was drunk and driving the wrong way, with his car traveling east in the westbound lanes, when he hit another car.

Jacobs, of North Carolina, was arraigned on Monday in connection with a deadly rollover crash. He was scheduled back in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing but it was waived to a grand jury.

Jacobs was charged with DWI and vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $50,000 or $100,000 bond. In court documents obtained by News10NBC, police said Jacobs initially denied drinking but admitted in the ambulance that he had two or three drinks between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
