Pontillo’s in Pittsford closed due to code violations

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) — A popular pizza place in the village of Pittsford is closed tonight.

There’s a notice on the door of the Pontillo’s Pizza restaurant on State Street saying it’s shut down for code violations.

Inspectors found fire and safety code violations—specifically, issues with the fire suppression system and major grease build-up.

After hearing from many viewers, there is some confusion surrounding the closure.

The Pittsford Town Supervisor said on Facebook that village officials were called after a drug overdose in the parking lot and drug paraphernalia was found inside.

The sheriff’s office told us they responded back on Sept. 13 for a welfare call in the Pontillo’s parking lot.

We have a statement from village Mayor Alysa Plummer. She confirms an inspection by village code enforcement was precipitated by that medical call.

She also says they found needles upon entering Pontillo’s, but no evidence of drug sales on the premises.

Pontillo’s must correct the code violations to reopen.
