ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police have closed a homicide case from 2021—but the suspect isn’t going to jail.

He was killed by Rochester Police last October.

RPD says Simran Gordon—the man who shot at police at a family dollar store—killed a man on Weld Street four months earlier.

They say Gordon shot Lavar Beard at close range in broad daylight around one in the afternoon on June 4, 2021.

The 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just last week the state attorney general cleared the officers involved in Gordon’s death. Body cam video shows Gordon fired the first shot—before an officer shot and killed him.
