ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester man accused of shooting and killing 25-year-old Jaquan Hill back in May of 2021 pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Friday.
Delon McNeil, 41, serve 25 years in the New York State Department of Corrections plus 5 years of post-release supervision as part of the plea deal.
The shooting happened on Cameron Street near Lyell Avenue in the city back on May 3, 2021. Hill was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Assistant District Attorney Michael Robertson says the shooting happened near an active community center in broad daylight.
Prosecutors say the shooting was over a dispute between the two involving McNeil’s vehicle. Two Monroe County Probation Officers were in the area for an unrelated matter when they hear the gunshots and chased after McNeil. He escaped, but was arrested four days later in Geneva.
McNeil is scheduled to be sentenced on April 26.
