ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Golisano Children’s Hospital is now designated as a level one pediatric trauma center.
That’s the highest possible classification for trauma care in New York State and the country.
Hospital officials say this will allow for a more comprehensive care team and it helps families who no longer have to travel for top-of-the-line care.
“Everything in our power to help every child reach their fullest potential,” said Kathleen Parrinello, the executive vice president and chief operating officer at Strong Memorial Hospital. “Achieving this goal requires collaboration across every level in the community, and we know that this level one designation is just an important milestone in our efforts to help all children thrive.”
The new classification will also allow the hospital to expand its research and education for nursing and trauma team members.
