ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Institute of Technology became mask optional on Thursday with several exceptions, including for classrooms, campus transportation, and healthcare facilities.

The campus’s Pandemic Planning Group said they loosened the restrictions because of falling COVID19 infection rates in Rochester. The campus will support students who chose to continue masking.

Members of the campus community still must get tested for COVID19 if they feel sick. All RIT students, faculty, and staff in the Henrietta campus are required to be vaccinated and must receive their booster no later than May 15.
