WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer held a news conference Sunday to announce a push to fight “rainbow fentanyl”. Schumer wants to add $290 million in the federal budget to fight the spread of fentanyl and fund overdose response strategy teams.
The announcement comes on the heels of a rare public warning from the drug enforcement administration about the dangers of candy colored “rainbow” fentanyl.
“I am going to make sure that in the federal budget that we’re voting on this week there is $290 million to fight the scourge of Fentanyl and rainbow Fentanyl, in particular,” said Schumer.
He says drug traffickers will stop at nothing to target kids and teens.
