ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County, the City of Rochester, local churches, law enforcement and the organization United and Healing Through Hope of Monroe County are all teaming up for an Easter food drive.

This will be the second annual Easter food basket drive.

They’ll be collecting donations and giving out Easter baskets to military families, senior citizens, individuals and any families in need.

Last year, more than 1,500 baskets were given out. This year the goal is to distribute more than 2,000.

"You should see the joy and excitement on people’s faces," said organizer Clay Harris. "They are so elated, so excited because some of them literally would not have had an Easter dinner if they didn’t get a basket from us."

Food donations can be dropped off through April 10 at participating churches, police stations, businesses, community organizations and as well as several Tops stores.

They also need volunteers.
