First Alert Weather: Milder air on tap

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As expected, Tuesday was a gloomier and chillier day with rain showers along a stationary front and a weak area of low pressure. That low moves out, leaving us with a partially clearing sky tonight, but that may also mean a little bit of fog developing in some spots. Temperatures will drop back a little bit—back into the mid-30s by morning.

Wednesday may start a little murky, with some of that fog lingering, but we should scour that out and make way for some nice sunshine. Temperatures will rebound back into the 50s for most. The exception will be along the immediate Lake Ontario shoreline, where highs will hold in the 40s—even upper 30s along the immediate lakeshore. The current water temperature in Lake Ontario is in the mid-30s, which will influence temperatures near the lake.

A bit more of a southerly wind on Thursday should help to keep much of the area mild, with highs expected well into the 60s, along with some sunshine. Friday will be a transitional day with clouds returning later in the day, and temperatures starting to take a step back. Some rain showers will develop late as our next storm system approaches.

It is looking more and more like this next storm will keep us on the milder side of it, which means mostly rain showers. If you’re over the snow, that is the good news. The bad news is the weekend isn’t looking great, with frequent showers and lots of clouds on Saturday.

Showers will taper on Sunday, but we may end with some wet flakes before the day is done. What a way to welcome in Spring, which arrives Sunday morning. We should swing the other way, with temperatures climbing above average again into next week.
