ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A New York State Supreme Court Judge on Friday sentenced 26-year-old Joshua Ross for first-degree manslaughter for beating a man to death in Rochester with a liquor bottle.

On Aug. 23, 2020, Ross beat 20-year-old Zaquan Jackson, who died of his injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital four days later, said Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley.

A judge sentenced Ross to 25 years in state prison and 5 years post-release supervision. Police arrested him less than a month after the attack, which occurred on the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Bartlett Street.
