ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Three people were shot, one fatally, late Wednesday morning on Rochester’s north side.

Rochester Police say they responded to North Clinton Avenue between Rialto and Kohlman streets at 11:30 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

When they got on the scene they found one man shot outside. He was transported to Strong Hospital in critical condition. After a brief search, RPD found a second man who was pronounced dead at the scene. A third man showed up at Rochester General Hospital, shot in the upper body, but he is expected to survive.

The area is expected to be shut down for much of the afternoon.

Police say they have no suspects in custody and don’t know the motive behind the shooting, but the area is known to them because it has issues with violence and it’s a target location for the police department.

They say violence in the middle of the day is becoming extremely frustrating for officers.

"This is terrible right this is horrific it’s 11:30 in the morning on a weekday," said Lt. Greg Bello. "Kids are around, schools are open there’s schools all along Clinton Avenue here all along the block here and there’s people shooting outside. Shotspotter went off and there’s numerous rounds of fire. I’m not going to get into the specific number as we’re still working on you know how many casings located and evidence along those lines but numerous shots fired down here in the middle of the day. This is terrible people got to stop reverting to guns and violence to resort to for their arguments."
