18-year-old Gates resident faces robbery, assault and weapons charges

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police have arrested a man who they say robbed and shot someone last month.
Tavar Johnson, an 18-year-old Gates resident, is facing robbery, assault and weapons charges. Officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound on 450 Jefferson Ave. on Nov. 26.
During the course of the investigation, it was later found that the shooting was part of a robbery. According to RPD, officers spotted Johnson in a car on Manchester Street and recognized him as a suspect in the case.
Johnson was pulled over and taken into custody. RPD officers say they also found a loaded, illegal handgun in the car.
Johnson is arrested and charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
