2 charged after alleged straw purchase of gun

MT. MORRIS, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two Mt. Morris men were arrested after an alleged straw purchase of a gun.

On June 4, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a man firing a weapon.

Eric Carney, 56, was found with the rifle and deputies say he can’t legally have one due to his four felony convictions.

They came across Timothy Wagner while they were investigating how Carney got the gun. Wagner allegedly bought the rifle for Carney.

Both men have arraigned.

Carney is being held without bail and Wagner was given an appearance ticket.
