ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The streets of Rochester were the colors of the rainbow this weekend for the pride parade. This is the event’s first time back since the pandemic!
Streets around Park Avenue glistened in different colors as the 2022 pride parade marched around the area.
As you can imagine, there was a lot of cheering, chanting, and music. Those marching included our local fire departments, schools, like SUNY and RIT, some doctors’ offices, Rochester teachers, you name it, they had a float or a big sign. We heard SUNY Brockport cheering, “When I say Brockport you say pride, Brockport pride Brockport pride.”
Not only was there a lot of walking and waving, but people were also showing off dance moves! There was one float that even had exercise equipment on it.
Every float was different in its own way, from costumes to balloons, signs, and even cheers to the crowd.
After the parade, the group headed to Cobbs Hill for the festival. Pride week in Rochester wraps up on Sunday.
