21-year-old arraigned Saturday for deadly RPD ambush

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Kelvin Vickers, 21, of Massachusetts, was arraigned at approximately 10:15 a.m. Saturday in Rochester City Court.

Vickers, the 21-year-old man accused of shooting and killing Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz and injuring Officer Sino Seng and a 15-year-old girl Thursday on Bauman Street, had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf.

Vickers is charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The case is going to a grand jury. Vickers is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, July 27. He will be held without bail in Monroe County Jail until then.

City Court Judge Van White requested a moment of silence before the defendant entered the courtroom.
