Rochester, N.Y. (WHEC) – A 5K was held for a great cause. The 20th annual Sunset House run was held this morning in Irondequoit.
All proceeds from the race benefit the Sunset House, which provides "comfort residential care" to people in the last phase of an incurable illness. It serves as an alternative living arrangement for those who can’t receive hospice care in their homes.
"It’s very special because it just shows me and the whole community how well-known this facility is, this race, how popular it is, and it’s just very endearing to know these people care so much for the cause and for the Sunset House here in Irondequoit," said race director, Patti Carter-Morrison.
Sunset house, which was founded in 1990, has provided care for hundreds of residents in Monroe County.
