ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Activists infuriated by the death of Daniel Prude and the length it time before the incident was made public listed a list of demands on Friday afternoon, including calling for the resignation of Mayor Lovely Warren and Rochester Police Chief La’Ron Singletary.
The demands, spoken at a press conference outside of the Public Safety Building, were from a group that included representatives from Free the People ROC and the Greater Rochester Black Agenda Group. Among the other demands was a call for the police to stop engaging with protesters with weapons such as pepper spray and pepper balls.
Also speaking: Daniel Prude’s brother, Joe, as well as Rochester City Council member Mary Lupien. One of the demands by the protesters on Friday involved City Council: they want the council to independently investigate Mayor Warren and her counsel, as well as to investigate Prude’s interactions with the University of Rochester Medical Center.
