SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (WHEC) — An ambulance on its way to Geneva General Hospital Wednesday was hit by an SUV.

Seneca Falls Police say it happened at the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 414 at around 1 p.m.

The North Seneca Ambulance involved was carrying a critical patient when it passed through the intersection with lights and sirens on. Police say the SUV did have a green light, though other vehicles on the road had stopped for the ambulance.

Police say the patient was not injured any further because of the crash, and no one else was injured. The Finger Lakes Ambulance unit that responded to the crash took the patient the rest of the way to the hospital.

The North Seneca Ambulance crew was evaluated but were not hurt and neither was the driver of the SUV, though the vehicle was totaled. The ambulance was able to drive away from the scene.

No tickets were issued to either driver.
