UTICA, NY (WHEC) – Heading into tonight’s game, Amerks Forward Jack Quinn emphasized the importance of "wanting it more." Based on Rochester overcoming a third period deficit with their season on the line, Quinn and his teammates must be happy. It’s easy to see why. For the first time in 18 years, the Amerks advance to the North Division Finals following a 4-2 win over the Comets in Utica on Thursday night in the fifth and final game of this series.
Arttu Ruotsalainen tied the game at 2-apiece on a power play just under 3:30 into the final frame. Sean Malone notched his 2nd playoff goal a few minutes later for Rochester, which didn’t allow the Comets to have a single power play opportunity. Mark Jankowski tacked on an empty netter with a minute left, giving the Amerks their first playoff win in regulation.
