Anna Murray Douglass and daughter getting individual grave markers at Mt. Hope Cemetery
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Freedom fighter and longtime Rochesterian Anna Murray Douglass and her daughter, Annie, are being given individual grave markers at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
It also marks 127 years since Anna was reinterred there, after her original burial in Washington, D.C.
Each marker will explain the important work of each woman and her contribution to the fight for equality.
Until today, neither woman had headstones showing where they were buried.
A public celebration and dedication of the cemetery memorials will be announced soon.
