Antonio Delgado wins Democratic Primary for Lt. Governor
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Congressman Antonio Delgado has won the Democratic Primary for Lt. Governor.
Delgado was the first person of color to represent upstate New York in Congress and is a member of both the Black and Hispanic Congressional Caucuses. He represents the state’s 19th Congressional District, which includes Hudson Valley and Catskills.
Delgado is the current Lt. Governor of New York. He was sworn in on May 25, taking the role of Brian Benjamin who resigned on April 12 following his arrest for federal corruption charges that he denies.
Before polls close, I want to say thank you to everyone who’s been with me on this whirlwind journey. I started as Lt. Governor just 34 days ago. And I wouldn’t be here today without our volunteers, activists, community leaders, and so many others. We’re just getting started. pic.twitter.com/p8MxSbI8bh
