Avenue A homicide victim identified

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester man has been identified after a shooting that took place on Avenue A on Saturday.
Investigators say the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Harris Street and Avenue A.

When officers arrived at the scene they found one man in a car with a gunshot wound. The victim was found at a gas station at St. Paul and Clifford.
The victim has been identified as Jeremy Hamilton Jr., 21, a city of Rochester resident.
Hamilton was rushed to URMC where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigators were able to determine Hamilton was in fact shot in the 100 block of Ave A.
Captain Steven Swetman said that the victim "pulled into the gas station at St. Paul and Clifford and that’s where we located him with at least one gunshot wound to the body."
The preliminary investigation thus far leads us to believe the murder of Hamilton is drug-related.
There are currently no suspects in custody.
