ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A warning about rising COVID-19 cases for the holiday weekend.

Monroe County reported 201 new cases on Friday.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and Commissioner of Public Health Dr. Michael Mendoza are urging people to "celebrate wisely"

They are encouraging the public to stay outdoors as much as possible when you are with people that are not in your own household. If you have to go indoors and are unable to maintain physical distance, wear masks – even if you are fully vaccinated.

Bello and Mendoza say taking these simple, yet effective steps will go a long way toward controlling the spread of this virus.
