Bike Tour is a fun way to explore the Flower City

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Reconnect Rochester adds another activity to its growing list of summer programs. The Rochester Local History Bike Tour is a fun way to explore the Flower City.

Participants will get to know the story of our area and visit historical locations. The tour is just over seven miles and will go at a relaxed riding pace. This ride is suitable for residents, visitors, HOPR users, and kids ages ten and up.

“Many people don’t know that Rochester was once one of the foremost biking cities in the country. People came here to see top-class bike infrastructure. In the 1890s, one of our nicknames was ‘Cycle Town.’ So one of the stops will talk about that legacy.”

Seeing the city’s investment in bike infrastructure along the way is a bonus for participants. “Many participants realize through the tour that biking around Rochester is pleasant, that their bodies can bike more miles than they thought. They’re more willing to bike on their own after the tour,” said Reconnect Rochester’s Cycling Manager and tour guide, Jesse Peers.
