ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Bills and Texans don’t have too much recent history but their last game was one you might remember.
It was the 2020 AFC Wild Card Round loss to Houston on the road.
Now, the two meet for a rematch in Orchard Park this Sunday.
You might remember, the Bills squandered a halftime lead to the Texans in that game. Now the bills appear to be the vastly superior team heading into this weekend’s matchup at home.
That’s not an exaggeration. They’re favored by 17.5 points the most out of any game this week and 10.5 more than the second-biggest favorite, the Buccaneers. Buffalo will go for its third straight win against the Texans who’ve lost two of the first three.
It’s safe to say Sean McDermott’s squad has come a long way since that playoff loss, which he believes motivated a lot of the guys at the time.
"The younger players in particular, when they get a taste of what it was about, and how much we wanted to take that next step and we couldn’t get the result we were looking for, that we wanted, I think it hit a lot of our younger players in particular when they got a taste of what it was about, and how much we wanted to take that next step and we couldn’t, obviously, because Houston won the game," McDermott said. "You know we had a lot of guys here, that are still here now, that have become our core, so I think that that had a great impact on those guys."
