ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC has body camera video showing a former Buffalo Bills player in a struggle with Niagara County deputies.
It ended with them using a taser and putting the suspect in handcuffs facing a host of charges.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m Monday and the body cam video was released on Tuesday night.
(Warning that some of this footage might be disturbing to watch).
The footage shows 45 minutes of Alex Carrington, who is a former defensive end with the Buffalo Bills, in a tense situation with sheriff’s deputies.
It starts with deputies approaching a car at a gas station that they had pulled over for speeding and for a broken headlight.
They asked the driver to turn off the car and then they quickly identify him as Carrington.
After four minutes, deputies asked him to get out of the car and Carrington did not respond.
They asked if he has anything they should know about in the car, and again Carrington did not respond. Instead he looked at his phone. That’s when deputies begin to suspect he might have a gun in the car.
Another deputy approached and askedagain if he would cooperate, indicating his registration was suspended and the car has to be towed.
After 20 minutes of back-and-forth with deputies, Carrington continued to resist, saying he doesn’t have to get out of the car and started the vehicle. That’s when officers used a taser to remove him.
Carrington was put in handcuffs, taken into custody, and he’s now facing charges. He was released on bond and will be back in court on Thursday.
Deputies found a loaded handgun beneath his leg, along with two additional high capacity magazines. Carrington is facing several charges:
Criminal possession of a weapon (2nd)
Criminal possession of a weapon (3rd)
Resisting Arrest
Obstruction of governmental administration
Driving while intoxicated
Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration
