BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Buffalo Police Officer was released from the hospital on Friday after sustaining serious injuries in a crash.
According to our Buffalo affiliates, Officer Jonathan Negron has been at the Erie County Medical Center for the last 36 days after suffering severe injuries while attempting to stop a vehicle last month.
On June 3, Officer Negron was trying to stop a car that fled through Mount Calvary Cemetery and onto Harlem Road when it hit a light pole and two other vehicles.
Police say the light pole they hit came crashing down onto the driver’s side of the officer’s vehicle.
Officer Negron spent time in the trauma intensive care unit with serious head injuries and was placed in a medically-induced coma.
On Friday, several officers were there at the hospital to cheer him on as he rose from his wheelchair.
