Car crashes into RPD car, men try to flee, caught

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — In a bizarre car crash on Friday morning, a car going south on Mt. Read Blvd tried to turn east onto Lyell Ave and hit an RPD car.

The RPD Officer inside the car was going north on Mt. Read Blvd to a call for a possible burglary.

Once the crash happened, which was around 5 a.m. on Friday, three people in the car tried to flee the scene. Two were taken into custody right away, and the third was after a short chase on foot.

One man in the car, 20-years-old of Rochester, was given an appearance ticket for an outstanding arrest warrant and refused medical treatment. A second man, 44-years-old from Rochester was taken to Rochester General Hospital for minor injuries, and will then be taken to the Monroe County Jail due to an outstanding bench warrant. The third man, 22-years-old of Rochester, was taken to Strong Hospital due to a high level of intoxication.

The RPD Officer was taken to Highland Hospital and is being treated for minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed related to the crash at this time. We will update you with more information.
