DARIEN, N.Y. (WHEC) — Investigators in Genesee County are trying to unravel a crash that sent four people to the hospital Sunday.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office reports a car traveling West on Erie Street in Darien when it crossed the double-yellow-line and crashed into a utility pole, and then hit a house.

Deputies say the driver of the car tried to back up and drive away, but the car was too badly damaged.

Two of the people in the back seat of the car had to be extricated by rescuers. One female victim was hurt badly that she needed to be flown to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. The other two were brought to ECMC by ambulance.

Her condition is considered life-threatening, however, Sgt. Kyle Krzemien with the Genesee County Sheriff’s office said that she was talking to first responders before being put in the helicopter.

The incident is under investigation
