Carjacking at gunpoint ends in pursuit, two suspects apprehended

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two suspects have been apprehended after a brief pursuit following a carjacking at gunpoint Saturday afternoon in Rochester.

According to Rochester Police, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers responded to 710 Lake Ave. for a report of a carjacking at gunpoint.

When police arrived, a 63-year-old male city resident told police that as he parked his truck in the parking lot, he was approached by two male suspects, both of whom pointed handguns at him.

Police say the victim was ordered out of his SUV, and the men entered the victim’s vehicle and robbed him of it along with his phone and wallet.

The suspects then drove off on Lake Avenue.

Just after 3:00 p.m., a Rochester Police officer assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force spotted the victim’s carjacked vehicle. Rochester Police officers and New York State Police responded to assist. According to police, a brief pursuit occurred, and the two suspects were apprehended.
