Carrier Dome will have a new name for the first time

SYRACUSE N.Y. (WHEC) — The Carrier Dome – home of Syracuse University basketball, football, and other sports – will have a new name for the first since its opening in 1980.

The stadium’s new name will be the JMA Dome. The central New York company JMA Wireless announced a 10-year partnership for naming rights with Syracuse University. The company will also support the dome’s digital infrastructure and wireless connectivity.

Syracuse’s Chancellor Kent Syverud said the partnership will benefit the university, students, and fans.

"With JMA Wireless as our new naming partner, our campus community, student-athletes and fans alike can expect a world-class event experience, unlike anything they’ve ever seen before at Syracuse University," Syverud said.

The CEO and founder of JMA Wireless, John Mezzalingua, said the company is a leader in 5G technology and has brought 5G to the city of Syracuse.

"Our company’s ties to the city and University run deep. I remember when Syracuse redefined college athletics with the Dome, a unique venue that ushered in a period of unprecedented success for Syracuse sports," Mezzalingua said.

The university recently completed a $118 million renovation project to its dome, which is the largest domed stadium of any college campus.
