Churchville-Chili student receives award for saving grandmother’s life

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The organization Crime Stoppers presented Jonathan Raplee, a 10th grader at Churchville-Chili High School, with the 2022 Good Citizen award on Wednesday.
Jonathan’s received the award for saving his grandmother’s life during a house fire last October. He was home alone with his grandmother when he smelled smoke. Jonathan called 911 and helped his grandmother escape to safety during the fire that destroyed the home.
Jonathan received the honor at Churchville-Chili High School District Office.
In March, Jonathan also received the Do The Right Thing Award from the Rochester Police Department for his heroic actions during the house fire.
The Crime Stoppers has presented their Good Citizen Award since 2020 to recognize a high school student who performed heroic actions while assisting first responders. You can nominate a high school student by contacting Rochester Area Crime Stoppers.
