City in Canada hit by tornado Thursday

(NBCNC) — A city in Canada’s Ontario province was hit by a tornado Thursday, causing extensive damage.
Police in Barrie, which is about 50 miles north of Toronto, described the damage as "catastrophic".
The tornado touched down in the mid-afternoon.
A Canadian meteorologist said the storm appeared to be on the ground for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Police said some homes sustained major damage, and there have been power outages and damage to gas lines.
A number of people have been injured.
