ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — This Sunday is Easter, and one local group is making sure families in need can enjoy the holiday.

Uniting and Healing through Hope of Monroe County held an Easter food basket drive Wednesday morning.

The group was joined by Tops Markets, first student officials, and volunteers to pack and distribute food for the baskets. The baskets include typical easter dinner items.

Over the last two years, nearly 4,000 food baskets were given out to those in the community and military families.

Clay Harris, founder of Uniting and Healing through Hope of Monroe County said, "The inflation has made things more difficult. We were already in the pandemic right, which was difficult. Now inflation is higher as you all know more than 40 years, so people are struggling to make ends meet, so what we’re doing is right on time to help—but with inflation, it costs us a lot to be able to buy."
