ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Rochester City Councilman Jose Peo issued a statement on Wednesday taking accountability and apologizing to Councilmember Lupien for not ending the lewd talk of his cohost in his "Politically Correcting Podcast" that aired on June 15.
The statement said, "A simple apology means nothing when your actions don’t change, and that is what he will do on his podcast, starting immediately."
Peo went on to say that he would make his final statement on the matter during the podcast at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. He says he hopes that the friction between his co-host Lavelle Lewis and Councilperson Lupien will end "immediately and amicably".
When the podcast aired on Wednesday, Peo addressed the fallout saying he should have righted the ship sooner.
"To any colleagues who felt offended by what was said on the podcast two weeks ago that we certainly derailed quite a bit from the original mission of the podcast and I was slow to react due to conversation quickly deviating from the talk about new gun laws," said Peo.
Peo goes on to suggest that any ladies who think they were projecting toxic male traits, listen to the conversations they’ve had on the podcast with female guests in the past.
The President of the City Council has yet to respond to our requests for comment.
