ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A City of Rochester building has been renamed to honor City Council President Loretta Scott.

There was a ceremony Monday for the former Department of Recreation and Human Services Administrative Office Building.

It’s now called the "Honorable Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services."

Mayor Lovely Warren said it’s a monument to honor Scott’s legacy of leadership.

"Although my career is coming to a close, I believe that the horizon for us, for this city, for the services that we provide is shining more," Warren said.

Before Scott became city council president, she served in the Office of the City Manager and in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Human Services.

She’s been a commissioner for 13 years.
