Deputies: Hamlin man dies days after crash
HAMLIN, N.Y. (WHEC)— Deputies say a Hamlin man died Wednesday night, just days after he was seriously hurt in a car crash in Hamlin Sunday morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Thursday said 43-year-old Joseph O’Connell died at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The crash happened at the intersection of Roosevelt Highway and Drake Road around 9:40 a.m. Crews said a red pickup truck was heading east on Roosevelt when it was struck by the blue sedan driven by O’Connell as he was heading south on Drake. Deputies say O’Connell ran a stop sign.
The pickup truck rolled over and ended up back on its wheels, the driver suffered minor injuries.
Deputies say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, but they are continuing to look into the cause.
