CHILI, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office K9 caught a burglar Thursday night.

Deputies say at around 10:15 p.m. the burglar alarm at Metalico, a junkyard on Scottsville Road in Chili, went off.

Responding deputies were able to determine that some got inside by climbing up on the roof and making his way through an air vent.

Then, deputies say he cut a hole in the drywall to get into a room with a safe inside.

He was hiding behind the safe when the K9 found him.

Andrew Mott, 33, of Irondequoit was charged with third degree burglary, second degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools.

Deputies say he was arraigned in Chili Town Court then remanded to the Monroe County Jail on no bail because he is a predicate felon.
