Deputies: Suspect in custody after shots fired at officers during traffic stop

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Deputies say a suspect accused of shooting at police Sunday night is now in custody following a large search.

The stop happened on Route 33 near Mill and Prole roads in the Town of Stafford, Genesee County around 6:15 p.m.

We know a woman who was in the car was already in custody as of Sunday night. A search was launched to find the other suspect, including the use of a New York State Police helicopter. Sheriff William Sheron advised residents in the area of the incident to lock their doors at the time.

A press release sent out Monday morning described the incident as "resolved." A more formal release will be sent out later Monday.
