Deputies: Two additional suspects arrested after car theft in Penfield
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Friday announced the arrest of two more suspects in connection to a car theft linked to a Facebook post back in July.
Deputies say 18-year-old Cameron Scott, and a 17-year-old were with two other people when they took a car from a Penfield neighbor while checking out the person’s car to potentially buy it based on a Facebook Marketplace ad.
Deputies already arrested 20-year-old Jordan Brooks in connection to the crime.
Both Scott, and the teen were charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. MCSO says the two are tied to a series of previous car thefts in Henrietta and Penfield.
They say the teen already was arrested and charged for a carjacking/robbery that happened on East Henrietta Road back in February. At that time, the teen was placed in the Monroe County Child Detention Center and was held there until late June of this year where he was released to Probation with GPS monitoring.
Deputies say the two showed "a complete lack of remorse" for and bragged about the crimes to investigators.
Both Scott, and the teen were issued appearance tickets and released from custody.
