ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Beautiful music filled every corner of Eastman’s Kilbourne Hall Sunday afternoon. It was the William Warfield Scholarship Concert.

The William Warfield Foundation bears the name of the acclaimed vocalist who grew up here in Rochester and gained international acclaim. Now the foundation provides scholarships to African American students seeking careers in classical music. Distinguished performers graced the stage today, including the nephew of William Warfield, Thomas Warfield.

"Many of the recipients that have received the William Warfield Scholarship Fund have gone on to stellar careers in Europe and the United States and we’re always just so excited to be able to give them this first boost into their career," said Warfield

This year’s recipient is Jazmine Saunders. She is a senior at the Eastman School of Music and is continuing her graduate studies at the prestigious Julliard School in New York
