Do the Right Thing: Blake helped people involved in a vehicle accident
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC is celebrating the latest winner of this semester’s “do the right thing” award. Meet Blake Fennell, a senior at Gates Chili Senior High School.
Blake’s school counselor nominated him for helping first responders this fall and putting the needs of others before his own. Blake arrived late to school one day and after his counselor learned the reason, he nominated Blake for his good deed.
While driving to school, Blake witnessed a motor vehicle accident. Rather than continuing on to school, he stopped, called 911, and spoke with the people involved to ensure that they were ok. Blake waited until law enforcement arrived and provided them with information that helped them to accurately complete their motor vehicle accident report. Both his counselor and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office appreciated Blake’s thoughtful actions.
Any student enrolled in grades K-12 in any Monroe County school is eligible for nomination. The good deed the student is nominated for must have occurred in Monroe County within one year of the nomination. Anyone over 18 years of age can submit a nomination form (this includes family, friends, school staff, coaches, etc.).
Nomination forms can be completed and submitted electronically or you can print the PDF form and email or fax the completed form. Forms are also available at any RPD building and any City school or City library.
