Do the Right Thing: Isabella is a kind, caring person!
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— News10NBC is celebrating another winner of the “Do the Right Thing” award. Meet Isabella Morales! She’s a ninth-grader at Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School.
Isabella was nominated by a mentor at her school for being a motivated student, a kind and caring person, and a role model to her peers. During virtual classes, Isabella consistently participated and engaged in online learning. She was constantly checking in on other students and trying to help them whenever she could.
Morales was also part of a team that created a spirit week to boost everyone’s morale. one of the days was a cultural day. As a school with much diversity, this was a great opportunity for everyone to display pride in their culture. That is just one example of how she advocates for social justice and diversity in the classroom.
Any student enrolled in grades k-12 in any Monroe County school is eligible for nomination. The good deed the student is nominated for must have occurred in Monroe County within one year of the nomination. Anyone over 18 years of age can submit a nomination form (this includes family, friends, school staff, coaches, etc.).
Nomination forms can be completed and submitted electronically or you can print the PDF form and email or fax the completed form. Forms are also available at any RPD building and any City school or City library.
