Do the Right Thing: Jalyia looked out her friend in a frightening situation
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— News10NBC is celebrating the first winner of this semester’s “Do the Right Thing” award.
Jalyia Davis, from the Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts, was recognized for how she handled a frightening situation back in June.
Jalyia was texting with a friend when the friend made comments that led her to think that she was having trouble and would hurt herself. She told an adult, who contacted the Rochester Police Department. The responding officer was able to go do a wellness check.
Fortunately, Jalyia’s friend was at home with her family and safe, but you never know what could have happened.
