ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A refashioned fashion show is in the works to help people who need financial assistance in battling breast cancer.
"Embrace Your Sisters" is a group that provides short-term emergency support for people with breast cancer in Allegany, Cayuga, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates counties.
Their “Tea At Two Fashion Show Fundraiser” will be held virtually this year.
They’ll still be having the traditional silent auction, as well as important guests, but the event will also feature style videos from local vendors, as well as hair and makeup tips from the pros.
Second Vice President Krista Jackson says the virtual tea is the best way to make sure people are still cared for, even when a lot of them aren’t getting out.
"The need is always there," Jackson said. "Even though we just went through COVID — obviously people are still being diagnosed with breast cancer. For us to be able to pull this event off in a virtual format this year is a really big lift and we’re really excited to do it."
Anyone can join and contribute to the cause.
The date is set for Sunday, July 11 at 2 p.m. but the event link will be accessible until July 16 at 5 p.m.
