AMHERST, N.Y. (WHEC) — John Michalski, a State Supreme Court judge in Erie County, died on Tuesday. Buffalo NBC affiliate WGRZ reported that Michalski’s death was a suicide in his home, according to his attorneys.
Two weeks ago, agents from the FBI, New York State Attorney General’s office, and NYS police searched the judge’s home. They left with boxes of materials. Authorities couldn’t comment on what the investigation was for.
WGRZ reported that the FBI has questioned Judge Michalski about his long-time relationship with Peter Gerace, the strip club owner who is accused of bribing a DEA agent.
